Why does the vehicle's fuel level not change?
Updated over 3 weeks ago

The cause for this situation should be categorized by fuel data source:

Mapon Fuel sensors

If there's one or two Mapon fuel sensors (depending on the amount of tanks), the vehicle's fuel level may not change, because:

  • Data is not being received from the device due to a temporary lack of signal as a result of a power loss or due to a lack of a mobile connection.

    ✅ In the case of mobile connection loss only, the data will be updated when the device is connected to a stable mobile connection again.

  • The fuel sensor has stopped working and has recorded the last fuel level value.

CAN Level

For CAN bus fuel level data, the causes for no change in fuel level could be:

  • Data is not being received from the device due to a temporary lack of signal as a result of a power loss or due to a lack of a mobile connection.

    ✅ In the case of mobile connection loss only, the data will be updated when the device is connected to a stable mobile connection again.

  • CAN data are not updated because the ignition of the vehicle is switched off;

  • An error has occurred in the on-board computer which causes the fuel data or all CAN data to no longer be received by the tracking device;

  • A malfunction of the built-in factory fuel indicator in the tank;

  • Failure of the CAN connection due to technical damage or physical interference (e.g. during maintenance at a car service center).
