Increasing fuel discrepancy when using Mapon fuel sensors can be caused by the following factors:
Seasonal change to a different fuel type
If you have installed fuel sensors during the summer, then on winter there might be some fuel-up changes as both fuel types has different density. The same happens after switching to a summer fuel if the calibration is performed with a winter fuel.
Refueling at an unknown gas station
There might be some small discrepancies if the vehicle is being refueled in a gas station where it has not been refueled before.
Refueling from an individual fuel pump
If you are refueling your vehicle from an individual fuel pump, then it is also highly recommended to calibrate it regularly.
✅ To exclude a possibility that the discrepancy was caused by your individual fuel pump, you can make a test by refilling the tank on a certified gas station.
Natural changes in the operation of the fuel sensor since the last calibration
While fuel sensors are currently the most accurate tool for monitoring fuel in trucks, they also have natural deterioration and need some maintenance.
✅ To extend the expected performance of Mapon fuel sensors as long as possible without the need for recalibration, we recommend adding special admixtures to the fuel to reduce the risk of condensation or cleaning the tank.
Overfilling of the tank during refueling
If the discrepancy occurs when filling a full tank, remember that the tank volume for the fuel sensors is set during calibration. If the fuel is not filled to the maximum during calibration, the uncalibrated volume will not be included in the fuel-up when the tank is overfilled.
