Idling occurs when the vehicle's engine is running (for light vehicles – when the ignition is turned to the "ON" position) but the vehicle is not moving.
We consider idling excessive when the vehicle stays in this state for more than the set time limit (usually 2 minutes by default). Excessive idling wastes fuel, increases maintenance costs, and isn’t great for the environment.
