Why does changing a camera’s timezone may cause recordings to disappear?

Updated over 2 weeks ago

When you change the timezone setting on a camera to an earlier time (for example, from GMT+2 to GMT+1), the system adjusts the recorded time backward.

This means that some hours will overlap with previously recorded footage.

Let’s say your camera recorded something at 3:00 PM while set to GMT+2. If you then change the timezone to GMT+1, that same 3:00 PM will now be treated as if it was recorded an hour earlier — at 2:00 PM. If your camera had already recorded something at 2:00 PM, the system might overwrite that footage. This is what makes some past recordings inaccessible or lost.

The bigger the time change, the more hours can be affected — for example, when changing from +2 to -1, up to 3 hours of recordings could be at risk.
