The events you can use will depend on the camera’s brand and model.

DMS events

Driver Monitoring System (DMS) events monitor the driver’s behavior and attention, helping detect distraction, fatigue, or unsafe actions while driving.

DMS event

Description

Yawning

Triggered when the driver is detected yawning frequently, which may indicate fatigue.

Phone usage

Triggered when the driver is using a phone while driving. This points to distraction and reduced focus on the road.

Smoking

Triggered when the driver is detected smoking while driving. This shows possible distraction or unsafe behavior inside the vehicle.

Eyes closed

Triggered when the driver’s eyes remain closed for an extended period. It signals potential drowsiness or microsleep while driving.

Distracted

Triggered when the driver’s attention appears to be away from the road, such as looking around or down. This indicates reduced focus on driving conditions.

Seat-belt unfastened

Triggered when the driver’s seat belt is not fastened. It highlights non-compliance with a basic safety requirement.

ADAS events

Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) events monitor what’s happening in front of the vehicle, such as following distance, forward collision risks, and potential pedestrian collisions, helping drivers react earlier and drive more safely.

ADAS event

Description

Pedestrian detection alert

Triggered when a pedestrian is detected in the vehicle’s path with a collision risk.

Headway monitoring

Triggered when a driver follows the vehicle in front too closely, leaving an unsafe gap. This helps identify risky tailgating behavior.

Fordward collision

Triggered when there is a high risk of crashing into the vehicle or object ahead.
