How to prepare your EVs for energy consumption calculations

Updated over a week ago

To get accurate energy consumption data in the EV summary section, you need to make sure each electric vehicle (EV) has the correct information added in its settings.

We use two key data points to calculate consumption:

  • Battery percentage data received from the vehicle or tracking device.

🔔 Only for supported vehicles and hardware.

  • Battery capacity (kWh) entered manually in the vehicle’s technical information.

This allows us to calculate how much battery energy is used based on the vehicle’s charge levels and distance driven.

If one of these is missing, the system won’t be able to calculate the vehicle’s energy usage correctly.

To add the battery capacity

  1. Go to your vehicle's settings.

  2. Go to the "Technical information" tab.

  3. Add the Battery Capacity (measured in kWh).

  4. Press the "Save" button at the bottom.

Consumption calculation example

If an electric vehicle with a 70 kWh battery capacity drives 120 km, and the battery drops from 90% to 40%, that means it used around 35 kWh.

The platform will calculate the Avg. consumption as:

35 kWh / 120 km = 29.2 kWh/100 km

This helps you compare energy use between vehicles and identify which ones are more efficient.
