Driver Coaching FAQ — Data Privacy & GDPR

Is an external AI provider involved?

Yes. Coaching tips are generated using an external large language model. We only send it the data described below.

What data is sent to the AI model?

Only anonymised statistics from the driving analysis, such as:

  • Overall score (0–100)

  • Distance driven with cruise control on

  • Number of harsh braking events

  • Number of harsh acceleration events, and similar metrics

  • Time period

What is never sent?

No driver name, no driver ID, no location or GPS data, and no company information (including country). The driver's name is added on our side after the response comes back — it never leaves Mapon's systems.

Can a driver be identified from the data sent?

No. The data transmitted is purely statistical and cannot be linked to a specific driver, vehicle, location, or company. The link between the data and the driver is held only within Mapon.

Does this mean my company's or drivers' personal data is processed by the external AI?

No. Because no personal data leaves Mapon's systems, no personal data is processed by the AI provider as part of this feature.

Is this GDPR compliant?

Yes. Since only anonymised, non-identifiable statistics are sent externally, the feature is designed to comply with GDPR. Personal data stays within Mapon throughout.
