How to check if remote download is supported

Updated over 3 weeks ago

There is two ways to verify if remote downloads of tachograph files are supported for the tachograph device in your vehicles:

Vehicles already in the platform

To check remote download support for a tracked vehicle:

  1. Go to Tachograph solutionTachograph data downloads.

  2. Go to 'Vehicles' tab and find the vehicle you want to check.

  3. Look at the "Remote Download Support" column to see the status:

⬜ Supported: This means we have successfully communicated to the telematics and tachograph device inside the vehicle in the last 21 days.

🟨 No data: This means we cannot communicate with the telematics device (for example, the device might not have signal).

🟥 Failing: This status shows up when tracking device cannot communicate with the tachograph device but it could previously.

🟥 Not supported: This indicates we cannot communicate with the tachograph device and we have never been able to do so.

Before adding vehicles

📘 We recommend to use this to check tachograph devices for any new vehicle before adding them to the Tachograph solution.

To check remote download support for a non tracked vehicle:

  1. Go to Tachograph solutionTachograph data downloads.

  2. Click on the CHECK REMOTE DOWNLOAD SUPPORT button at the top right.

  3. Drag and drop or upload from your PC a manually downloaded tachograph vehicle file from the vehicle's tachograph.

  4. Wait for the system to complete the check.

  5. Review the displayed status:

    • Supported: We have experience downloading files from this kind of tachograph.

    • Ready for testing: We don't have experience downloading files from this tachograph; testing is required.

    • VDO CTC programmer needed: A VDO CTC programmer is required to enable remote data downloading.
