Idling occurs when the vehicle is stationary, the ignition is on, and the engine is actually running.
In Fleet efficiency, idling is one of the factors behind your fleet's efficiency score.
It's shown as Average daily idle time, which tells you how much time, on average, a vehicle's engine runs each day without the vehicle moving.
A higher number usually means more fuel burned without covering any distance, so keeping idle time low helps improve your fleet's efficiency score.
We consider idling excessive when the vehicle stays in this state for more than the set time limit (usually a few minutes). Excessive idling wastes fuel, increases maintenance costs, and isn’t great for the environment.
Idling is calculated the same way across the platform, not just in Fleet efficiency.
