Why is there a difference between GPS and odometer distance readings?

Updated this week

The difference between GPS and odometer distance happens because they calculate distance differently.

Odometers measure based on wheel rotations, which can be affected by tyre wear or incorrect tyre size. GPS uses satellite data to calculate distance, which can be impacted by signal interruptions or data retrieval frequency. While GPS is generally accurate, it can still be influenced by tunnels or poor satellite visibility.

However, there is a way how to align the two values, it's a good idea to update the vehicle’s mileage in its profile once in a year or two, and always after a tire change.
