How does 'Accessory switch' feature work?

Updated this week

🔔 To enable accessory switch data in Online Map, Alerts, and Reports, contact your Mapon representative or Support Team to arrange installation or add the required switch mapping.

Accessory switch allows you to transform raw binary signals from your vehicles — simple 1/0 "ON/OFF" inputs — into readable, actionable data across the Mapon platform. It links any wired switch on the GPS device (like trailer doors, sirens, or a work/private mode toggle) or other existing inputs (like PTO or hydraulic power unit, Ignition, Engine RPM) to named, human-friendly indicators you can see live on the Online Map → Vehicle Data Panel, use in alerts, and analyse in reports. Instead of guessing from behaviour patterns, you get explicit status changes you can trust — perfect for compliance, safety, and operational insights.

Features

Direct signal visualization

Show live ON/OFF states for any "ON/OFF" input in the Vehicle Data Panel.

Hardware-agnostic mapping

Tie diverse switches (PTO, doors, sirens, custom toggles) to clear labels for your day-to-day operations.

Alerts & workflows

Trigger notifications when a state changes (e.g., door opens on route, siren active, PTO overuse).

Reporting & analytics

Use mapped switches in timelines, charts, and summary reports to quantify usage and trends.

Works well with ...

Accessory switch isn’t a standalone solution — it’s a feature that tracks the state of selected switches or other inputs and lets you get notified about changes. It surfaces key events across Mapon platform: on the Online Map (Vehicle Data Panel and Route history, in general), through switch-based Alerts, within specific Objects, and in dedicated Reports. These visual indicators and reports help you monitor usage, analyse trends, and support operational decisions.
